Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at San Jose International Airport. Our representative will meet you at the airport and you will transfer to Arenal area hotel in a private vehicle with English speaking driver.
Overnight Arenal Volcano area hotel.

Day 2: Breakfast buffet begins at 6 AM, but you don’t have to go that early unless you want!  You can sleep in and rest from your travel to Costa Rica.  If you are an early riser, you will have time to explore the trails at the hotel and look for birds, monkeys and sloths.  At 3 PM you will be picked up for your first day of adventure. This canopy tour with tarzan swing will be the ice-breaker for all the excitement to follow this week. Relax in the afternoon and sit on the porch gazing at Arenal Volcano.
Overnight at Arenal Volcano area hotel. (B)

Day 3: Today after breakfast, you will be picked up around 8:30 AM for a Kayak & Hot Springs adventure on the Arenal River. Experience the exhilaration of piloting your own craft down the river on an inflatable “Duckie” (those with children 1-9 we will arrange an alternate hike). Participants must be able to swim and not be afraid of water.

You will start your adventure at the Arenal river bridge where experienced instructors will take you through a thorough equipment check, river safety lesson, instruct you on the fine art of paddling your Duckie and lead you through the class II rapids of the Arenal River. Along the way, you will stop midway to refuel with fresh tropical fruits and at the end of your adventure you will enjoy ice cold refreshments.

Then, you are off to the exclusive Springs Resort with some of the most beautiful Hot & Cold Springs, Mineral Pools and Waterfalls in the region. You will also have access to Perdido Springs (Lost Springs) which is a connected system of trails and seven naturally fed spring pools located within a lush forest canyon. Also includes a small visit to the wildcats rescue center with more than 30 endangered species of wildcats under rehabilitation. Your entrance includes lunch at Tres Cascadas gourmet buffet.

Overnight Arenal Volcano area hotel. (B/L)

Day 4: You’re on vacation, so you need a day to chill out.  Spend the day lazing around in the hot tub, rocking on the porch and taking in the volcano or exploring the many floral delights throughout the grounds. In the afternoon, maybe you will take a taxi into the quaint nearby town of Fortuna and shop for some of the great products made from Costa Rican hardwoods, buy a hammock, or maybe ceramic or pottery wares available. Don’t forget to pick up some Costa Rican coffee at the grocery store and Lizano tabasco and Salsa Inglesa. You will find the prices better than the airport and have time to package them in your luggage or carry on.
Overnight Arenal Volcano area hotel. (B/L)

Day 5: Get ready, because right after an early bite at the hotel, you will head off for the most thrilling tour we have. Prepare to get wet, as you rappel through the waterfalls on this Canyoning Tour. Lunch is included.
Overnight Arenal Volcano area hotel. (B/L)

Day 6: Sleep in today. Around 11 AM take a short taxi ride (10 mins) to Tabacon Hot Springs Resort where you can relax in the many thermal pools with differing temperatures to assure you find the one that is just perfect for you. Don’t forget your camera, the lush foliage is unbelievable. Take a little cash for a tropical mango margarita or cold “cerveza.” Lockers and towels are provided (take a credit card for deposit), so take your toiletries with you. If you want a massage, take your credit card with you and book them early in the day. This spa is world class! Lunch and Dinner buffet included (soft drinks and alcoholic beverages extra).
Overnight Arenal Volcano area hotel. (B/L/D)

Day 7: Have breakfast, pack your things and prepare for checkout. You will be picked up at 8:30 AM for your white water rafting adventure with Class III-IV Rapids (those with children 8-11 will raft on the Balsa River Class II-III, pickup at 10:30 AM). Delicious Hot Lunch served after rafting. If you have children ages 1-7, we will plan a special trip to La Paz Waterfalls for you to see monkeys, butterflies, frogs and much more. After your tour, you will be dropped off at your San Jose Hotel.
Overnight Best Western Irazu (B/D)
(Ask about upgrade to Hilton Cariari with breakfast or the Grano de Oro — no breakfast included at this property)

Day 8: Departure Day. So sad to be leaving this tropical paradise. You will leave Costa Rica with plenty of wonderful memories and your camera’s memory cards will be full of gorgeous photos. I have been to Tabacon Hot Springs twice and found it to be one of the most beautiful hot springs in the world and of course I have not seen them all. I love hot springs whereever I can be in one. The greenery, flora, the way the springs flowed were incredible. I want to do an Endless Dreamer Retreat in Costa Rica next Spring for Spring Equinox. I would never go to Costa Rica without going to Tababon Hot Springs. For me, it is a definite go to! Anyone want to come with us, Compdreams@aol.com
