Experience the excitement and adrenaline of the Costa  Rica white water Rafting Class II&III tour on this half day adventure!! Located at 50 minutes from La Fortuna, Balsa River provides an excellent setting to enjoy rafting for whole family. Get wet and wild through rapids such as ¡“Magnetic Rock” and “Dredges”! A 15-minute break in the river allow us to taRio Balsa Wave Expeditionsste delicious tropical fruit while enjoying a tropical setting, surrounded by monkeys, toucans and other exotic species. In the way back to Fortuna town we will enjoy a delicious lunch at “Vida Campesina” a traditional country estate with the aim to let visitors experience the genuine and peaceful way of country life in Costa Rica. You will enjoy a delicious typical lunch prepared on the original wood stove and served in a traditional way.



Costa Rica White Water Rafting Class II&III

After meeting with your river guide at your hotel we will drive 30 minutes to the river where the fun begins! You guides explain the “how to”,  safety procedures and safety equipment before embarking down the river.

Enjoy up to 2 exhilarating hours of white water action on this beautiful tropical river. Please remember that everyone paddles.
Once at the San Carlos Bridge we end our journey, enjoying a swim, some fresh tropical fruits and a cold Costa Rican style “Michelada” This River is a great option for families and beginners.
At the end of the tour, there is a mini-cultural experience so you can learn more about the Costa Rican culture.  A great added value for all ages.

We recommend the Balsa River for those who are between the ages 8 and 70. Adventure sports require that you are in good physical condition to participate. We also offer, Sarapiqui, Tenorio & Pacuare Rivers from Class III to Class IV & Class IV+









  • Transportation to and from most La Fortuna hotel. There is an additional charge for hotels outside La Fortuna area. If you are returning to Arenal – La Fortuna, it includes a wonderful cultural experience. Not included if you are proceeding to San Jose after rafting

  • Tour Rates:$ 75 Per person
  • Transportation may stop at multiple hotels before or after your pickup and drop-off times.
  • Duration: 7 hours
  • Schedule: Departs daily at 10:30am and returns at 4 to 4:30  pm
  • Requirements: Minimum 8 years old

What to bring

  • Go dressed ready to hike and to get WET.  Be sure to wear TEVAs or old tennis shoes – something that is sure to stay on your feet.  (Have bathing suit underneath your clothes and bring a bag to leave dry clothes in – guides will keep this bag at base camp while you are rafting)
  • Bring Comb, TOWEL, and other Toiletries with you in bag to leave with guides
  • Sunscreen, insect repellent
  • T-Shirt of Long-Sleeved shirt to prevent sunburn
  • Waterproof Camera with lanyard that you can attach to your vest
  • Do NOT bring anything that you do not want to get WET
  • Gloves if you have tender hands as you must paddle.
  • ADD This tour to any hotel package
